    Course Learning Objectives

    By the end of this course, you will be able to:

    1. Describe how to use a life course approach to the prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) and the link to other health challenges.
    2. Explain the magnitude and epidemiological trends of NCDs at the global and regional levels, using key metrics and data visualizations to compare burden across countries and regions.
    3. Examine the interrelation between the social, environmental, commercial, and political determinants of NCDs and their major behavioral and environmental risk factors, and identify variations across countries.
    4. Describe policies and strategic directions for addressing NCDs at the global and national levels, including All-of-Government and multisectoral approaches and essential healthcare interventions.
    5. Explain the importance of comorbidities and integrated approaches to care for people with NCDs who also experience mental disorders, infectious diseases, or exposure to violence and injury.
    6. Critically analyze country experiences in addressing NCDs and outline the basic components of national or subnational NCD programs.
    7. Explore knowledge gaps and discuss research priorities for addressing these gaps, with particular emphasis on policy and implementation research.
    8. Apply different research methods to design and implement effective NCD programs and interventions.
    9. Develop a policy brief advocating for an intervention likely to have an impact on NCDs in your country.
